In the commercial and personal transactions the usage of cheques for banking requirements is a common practice in Qatar, like any other developed country.  The issuer of the cheque, handing over the signed cheque to the payee with the assurance that the cheque will be honored on presentation of the same in his bank. If the payer has sufficient balance in his account on presentation of the cheque for collection, the cheque will be honored and the payee will get his fund.  However if the cheque is returned for insufficiency of fund, then the payer is liable for prosecution as per the laws in Qatar.
